Applying for Audio Engineering Courses at Perth College

When?

We usually interview from January to June - the earlier you apply the better, though we always try to keep places for late applicants.

All applicants for Audio courses will be asked for interview

Prior to this, when we receive your application, you will be sent a questionnaire which will tell us something about who you are, how you think and what you like. You must bring this with you to your interview/audition.

The interview

This is your chance to tell us why we need you as a student - an opportunity to show your character and give us clues to your potential as a musician. We will us the information provided in the questionnaire to help us to find out as much about you as possible. Sell yourself!

We try to make the interview process as painless as possible, but there may be a wait involved, as we try to give everyone ample chance to shine.

Please bear in mind that the decision of the interviewer is based on many factors, is the product of experience and intimate knowledge of the music industry and is therefore final.

 

Qualifications

There are no formal entry qualifications for NQ, HNC or HND Audio or Sound Engineering - however, if you do not have an English qualification, such as Higher english ot Communications 4, you will study one of these as part of the course.

 

If you have applied for HNC or HND we will be looking for evidence of interest in and experience of basic sound recording or public address. This may take the form of:

A reference from an employer or someone with whom you have worked in the field of audio - work experience or part-time studio work etc.

Examples of completed work from your home or school studio setup.

Knowledge of the audio industry.

 

Non-advanced courses

If you are applying for NQ, we are looking for interest and involvement in sound recording or processing, and character suitability - be honest, open and enthusiastic.
