  • Ex-student Steve Lawson is to support Level 42 on their forthcoming 'Greatest hits' tour - interrupted only by solo bass gigs with Michael manring and David Freisen - Steve recentlydelivered a clinic at his alma mater, and we were very impressed by how much he'd learnt since he left!
  • Exand current Perth students 'The hours' are supporting Jim Mullen's organ trio i Glasgow this month.
  • 3rd year BA student Brian Hurren has joined Runrig, due to the recent election of their keyboard player Pete Wishart as MP for Tayside North. They are toruing Scotland, Germany and Denmark.
  • Jazz fusion stars Jim Mullen and Lawrence Cottle are conducting guitar and bass workshops at Perth in early May.
  • Roland UK hosted a demo of their new guitar amps and guitars - featuring digital amp and guitar modelling.
  • Ex-student Tom Urie - seen in STV's 'Chewin' the fat', 'Singalonga Sound of music' among others - is featured as the eponymous 'head' in channel 4's new comedy series.
  • Perth's Samba band, Rhythm Wave, have a busy winter - playing at light-switching-on ceremonies in Glasgow and Perth, Hogmanay in Perth. This brings to a close a busy year for the band, which saw them winning third prize in the world carnival championships in Alborg, Denmark, playing at Glastonbury and many other gigs.
  • After the sad death of Nazareth's drummer earlier this year, ex-student Lee Agnew took over the drum chair, joining fellow ex-student Jimmy Muirison in the still-successful Scots-based rock band,just back from a British tour and shortly off for a summer tour of the states.
  • Ex Perth Band Annie Christian recently returned to Edinburgh after a successful tour supporting Echo & The Bunnymen - now recording their second album for V2 records. Manager Bruce McLean and guitarist Laurence Lean paid the college a visit to see the plans for the new building and say hello to old friends.  
  • Bass Player Steve Lawson, now also journalist and educator, is currently on tour with Howard Jones, as well as playing with his own mystical Indian/western group Ragatal, teaching at Drum Tech and writing for Guitar Player Magazine.
  • Singer/songwriter Helen Currie is in the USA being 'developed' by Sony on a possible new project - good luck to her.
  • Singer Norman Bowman, after a few years playing Marius in the West End production of Les Miserables is currently touring with The Pirates of Penzance.
